We live in a small town in Northern Michigan and enjoy the beauty of nature. Raising puppies has been a great part of our life for 40 plus years. I am a small breeder who enjoys the companionship that the Shih Tzu brings into our lives. My dogs are a big part of our day to day life and live with our family. A few years back I started showing my Shih Tzu and with the help of a Fantastic Mentor; Sally, I feel we have very nicely structured Shih Tzu's. We now have several Mom's and Dad's that are now champions. Either thru AKC or UKC. We have also had an AKC inspection in the past with no issues.
At times, related to cost of upkeeping and building sites, this site is used by different family members and friends who have puppies for sale. They have the same desire and mission. We all take pride in our dogs and their offspring.
My mission is to provide you with a puppy that is healthy and will bring years of pleasure to your family. Puppies are checked out thoroughly prior to being placed in a home. Declaws are usually removed and 1st set of vaccinations have been given before the puppy leaves our premises. If you live in an area where certain diseases are more prevalent, it is recommended that the puppy remain with us, until a 2nd set of vaccinations may be given to assist in assuring the puppies health.
A WORD about Scammers: Please take note, I have had several calls from potential buyers or people who are afraid of the scammer out there and how do you tell when someone is scamming you?
First, I would say is do they have a site. Also when advertising, many sites will tell you how long they have been a member or in order to advertise with them (such as AKC Marketing), you must first register the litter of puppies.
I would also ask who there vet is? Most vets do not mind a call to verify that you are a breeder in that area. If possible, please talk to the breeder (or in my case the potential buyer) and be aware if all of a sudden they are asking for more money up front (most breeders will ask for up to 50% of the cost of the puppy).
When talking to people, you can usually tell when someone is sincere about wanting a puppy and the same goes, you should be able to tell if they actually know and care about the quality of their dogs.
I also have friends that can verify I am a breeder (as they are breeders too and can verify the quality of my puppies)
I could go on and on, but best practice is trusting your gut, often scammer will try to pull you in with a low price, then disappear with your money, leaving you sad and frustrated and with no puppy. Remember a quality puppy may cost more to start, but is well worth it in the end.
Originally, we raised Collies for several year while our children were growing up. About 10 years ago, we made a switch to a smaller type of dog. We found the Shih Tzu to be a fairly quite dog (in comparison to many other toy breeds) yet highly intelligent and loyal. We can not beat the personality of a Shih Tzu. They are a hypoallergentic and non shedding breed. What this means is that they hair does not shed like many other dog breeds. We absolutely fell in love with the breed and their personality
Satisfaction- several families have come back for a second puppy. We encourage new owners to ask questions, so that they will enjoy their new pet
